A 41-year-old Prince George man has been arrested in connection with the shooting-related death of Omar DeLoatch, 44, of Hampton, after police discovered the victim deceased on private property near James River Drive.
According to the Prince George County Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:50 a.m. on August 29, 2026, to the 15200 block of James River Drive following a report of an unresponsive person.
When officers arrived, investigators found a deceased man who had suffered trauma consistent with ballistic injuries. Authorities identified the victim as Omar DeLoatch, 44, of Hampton.
Police have not released extensive information about DeLoatch’s personal background or what may have occurred before the shooting. The circumstances surrounding his death remain part of the ongoing investigation.
Detectives and other officers worked throughout the day to gather information and identify a person believed to be connected to the homicide. Later on August 29, authorities arrested Del’Wan Bland, 41, of Prince George, in connection with the case.

Bland faces several charges, including second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a violent felon.
